About Dr. Usama Alkazaki

As a Middle Eastern immigrant to the U.S., Dr. Usama Alkazaki brings a personal dedication to the SCIRC’s mission and work. A clinical pharmacy specialist, he immigrated to California from Palestine and Jordan.

Living in a predominantly Arab immigrant community in El Cajon, CA, in the Greater San Diego Area, he saw a great missing for new immigrants to get quality, personalized healthcare that met their needs. After managing pharmacies for national chains, he opened Palm Care Pharmacy, as founder, CEO, and senior pharmacist, personally ensuring clients had linguistically and culturally competent medical attention and access to treatment and insurance. Dr. Alkazaki has often personally funded treatment for local patients who needed immediate care and did not yet have active insurance, as well as free delivery of prescriptions to clients who can’t leave their homes. He has created a true community atmosphere, where the community knows they can rely on genuine individual, comprehensive care.

Dr. Alkazaki now owns and runs three community-based pharmacies in the San Diego area, that have consistently included a network of pro bono and grant-funded mental health, medical, and social service providers to clients free of charge. This organically grew into the Help You organization, providing full-time, full-service programs, medical and mental health care, and social services, that ensure immigrant, refugee, and underserved communities thrive.

Dr. Alkazaki holds a
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Al-Zaytoonah University in Jordan and a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the University of Arizona.

He is well known and beloved in the community for creating a welcoming and joyful atmosphere, and large scale community events tailored to specific refugee and immigrant communities, where families and individuals can have fun while gaining more information and access to service. He and his organizations’ refugee events have been featured on San Diego Fox News and other news outlets.
